A junk car, me, Ankush and Keshav and the highest motorable metalled road in the world, Khardung La at 18,380 feet.

‘If you start you reach.’

You know what we forgot to take with us?

Our bag of winter clothing.

I am wearing 3 full sleeve t-shirts.

The un-ending roads, the un-ending drive.

The famous gata loops, climbing the vertical mountain face. It still scares me.

Dont know how many streams we have to cross on the way. I remember we had just crossed a stream before this one and a vehicle coming from the other side stopped and the driver got down and literally started crying "how many more streams" he sobbed.

Sarchu, the mid point. The night was so cold I had to take 3 quilts. Every few minutes I had to take my head out of the quilts to take in a few deep breaths.

A little brandy helped us all. Ankush took half a bottle of that help ad slept without the quilt till morning.

The bridge was broken, we had to drive through the stream. This rope tied to the front of the car helped in pulling it out.

The steep fall where Keshav saw a truck lying at the bottom and said “look there is a truck lying at the bottom” and I said to him “if I look there then you would be lying where the truck is.”
